A BIA is the process that identifies critical business processes and the resources needed to support them. It also predicts the consequences of disruption to a business, and gathers information needed to develop recovery strategies. A BIA is a key component of business continuity planning and is essential to developing comprehensive and accurate business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
A BIA is different than a risk assessment, which focuses on the likelihood and severity of a loss of activity and resources. A BIA focuses on the impact of disruptive events on business operations, and the severity of those effects.
What is a time-in-advance plan?
A TIA plan is a plan that is put in place before a business disruption occurs.
